- Style: American Imperial Stout
- ABV: 11%
- IBU: 48
This rich imperial stout is a 2006 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal Winner. It is thrown into oak barrels, with 75 pounds of tart Door County cherries in each barrel. It pours a dark brown, with a thin tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. However that is to be expected with a high abv beer. Aromas of toast, roasted coffee, and cherry burst out from the glass. Flavors of toasted nuts, coffee, and sour cherry are upfront. Secondary flavors of oak, and light vanilla come through on the back end. There is a tartness in the short finish that sort of transcends into a slight bitterness rounding everything out. The thin body, and the nearly non-existent 11% abv make this beer too easy to drink…Dangerously easy!
Another fantastic stout by Central Waters. Every beer put into barrels by this brewery is delicious in my opinion. You can’t go wrong!
