Main beer co was started by two brothers around 2008. They remained a nano brewery for close to two years before making the move to a larger scale operation. The two brothers started brewing beer together under the conditions that they would do things right. Which to them means, making quality beer, along with treating their employees exceptionally well, and taking care of the earth and all creatures that live on it. With this standard, they’ve started their own campaign in which they donate 1% of all sales to various environmental non-profits.

Woods & Waters was brewed to commemorate the establishment of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. They used barley and wheat which was grown in Maine, along with a giant dose of hops that give off fresh flavors of pine to remind you of the great outdoors. The second you pop the cap off this bottle you’re immediately hit with those fresh piney hops, along with some grapefruit rind, and honey-dew melon. This beer poured hazy gold, and quickly developed a big fluffy head which thinned out quickly leaving a thin ring around the glass. The aromas prepare your mouth for what it is about to taste. On first sip you get smacked with fresh plucked pine needles, and a bit of grapefruit zest, followed by a low to medium bitterness in the finish. The body was very light, and crisp but with enough going on to still be a pretty dank IPA.

The low carbonation, and balanced bitterness and flavors of this beer make it so smooth and easy to drink.  If you find this one on shelves I totally suggest grabbing one and drinking it right away while it’s still super fresh.

Bottoms up!
