Lawson’s Finest is a small craft brewery located in Warren, Vermont with big plans in the works. Currently brewing out of a seven barrel facility, they have plans to open a new brewery and retail space in 2018. For the last few years Sip of Sunshine has been brewed out of Two Road’s in Connecticut, allowing Lawson to branch out beyond the Vermont market.
Sip of Sunshine is juicy double IPA with plenty of tropical fruit notes and an airy finish meant to be drank as fresh as possible.
Pour: A nice amber color, hazy and slight dark.
Head: A frothy white head forms, lingers for about a minute before slowly fading.
Nose: Strong pine notes jump out, little bit malt in the background surrounded by light fruit notes.
Palate: Has a medium bodied mouthfeel but super balanced. Hops come at you first followed by hints of pineapple and guava. The finish is juicy with a touch of acidity
Overall: My first Sip of Sunshine was on a ski trip to Vermont and I was instantly hooked. Finding some in Connecticut was a great surprise, and it was every bit delicious as I remember. Super juicy with a perfect balance of hops, leaving pine notes without being sticky. A very refreshing Double IPA that would pair well a BBQ brisket sandwich, fresh seafood or even rice pudding.
