What started as a small brewpub in the late 90’s, has become the craft beer behemoth and canned beer aficionado Oskar Blues Brewery. Now with two breweries, one in Longmont, Colorado and a satellite brewery in Brevard, North Carolina, they have plans for a 3rd in location in Austin, Texas. Offering eight year round selections and a handful seasonal and limited brews, the Oskar Blues Pinner Throwback IPA is outstanding.
This session IPA pours a hazy orange with a thin fizzy head. The head fades quickly leaving some remnants on the sides of the glass.
The nose comes in with strong grapefruit notes pushing their way to the front, followed by some lighter tropical notes. On the back end, the hop aromas start to show with slight earthiness.
The palate is light to medium bodied with subtle carbonation. There’s a medium bitterness with some grain notes and easy going acidity. Plenty of sweet fruits give this brew high drink-ability in the warmer months.
Overall this a great example of what Session IPA’s can bring to the table. A perfect choice for your next beach excursion or camping trip. Would pair nicely with Parmesan or Romano cheeses, clams in a garlic sauce, or grilled steak and burgers.
