Knee Deep Brewing Company is new to the scene as of 2010, and are quickly becoming a well recognized name in the craft beer world. Winning several awards over the past few years, Knee Deep is known for their unique blends and creative outlook. Their current portfolio consist of over a dozen year round releases in addition to seasonal and limited releases. Their Belgo Hopotlogist is a Belgian style double IPA and is currently available in most markets.
The beer pours a slightly hazy golden honey color with orange hues. The thin white head show some retention before dissipating to a spotty lacing. The carbonation is notable with tiny bubbles rising to the top of the glass.
Hop aromas dominate the nose. Notes of pine, grapefruit pith, lemon zest, orange blossoms, grass, pineapple and mango all mingle together and are met with a hint of Belgian yeast.
On the palate, hop notes dominate with pine and grapefruit topping the list. Grassy and citrus notes of lemon zest and orange mix with tropical aromas of mango and pineapple. Clove and pepper spice are notable, and the sweet malt acts as a backdrop and provides balance to the hops.
