Terrapin Collaboration Tangerine Cream IPA

Terrapin Collaboration Tangerine Cream IPAEast meets west with the coolest collaboration in recent history. Terrapin and Green Flash have teamed up to make a Tangerine Cream IPA that will tickle your inner child, while satisfying one of life’s guiltiest pleasures. Terrapin has been brewing world class craft beers from Atlanta since 2002 while Green Flash has been brewing out of San Diego for 12 years as well. This collaboration beer is the love child of brewing geniuses!

The beer pours a golden amber color with ripe orange hues. The dense two finger cream colored head shows great retention. Once the head dissipates there is a light lacing that remains fairly consistently across the top of the glass.

The bouquet showcases citrus aromas including lemon, grapefruit and of course tangerine. There is a heavy pine note backing the citrus aromas. There is a sweetness from the tangerine as well as from a candied sugar note that is intertwined with a light malty aroma. A hint of sweet vanilla adds complexity and makes you think “cream.”

Hops explode on the palate with citrus (lemon zest and grapefruit), pine and earthy notes. The citrus takes the forefront of the hop profile and leads right into the sweeter flavor of tangerine seamlessly. The tangerine lingers on the midpalate and meets a creamy note on the finish to create the creamsicle effect. While there is a bitterness from the hops, it is well balanced by not only the creamsicle sweetness, but also by a touch of sweet malt that pops up. The creamy mouthfeel enriches the flavors and is extremely noteworthy.

When two great breweries collaborate, one great beer is inevitable. A great pair for Asiago, scallops a l’orange, or an orange sour cream cake. 3.5 Out of 5 Pints
