Stone Enjoy By 11.12.13

Stone Enjoy ByStone is a craft brewery headquartered in Escondido, California which was founded in 1996 in San Marcos, California. Most of their beers are characteristic of west-coast craft brews; that is to say, most have a traditionally “hoppy” flavor. Stone Enjoy By is no exception, showcasing a hoptastic west coast flavor profile. It is “a devastatingly fresh double IPA, specifically brewed NOT to last.”

The beer pours a clear golden orange color. The thin white head is frothy and dissipates rather quickly. After the head recedes a decent lacing is left behind atop the beer. The moderate carbonation is evident as bubbles continue to rise from the bottom of the glass like a fine champagne.

Aromas of lemon and grapefruit rind leap from the glass. Softer tropical fruit notes linger in the background. There are powerful aromas of pine resin that transforms to a piney tar note as the beer sits. There are muted aromas of caramel and bread which are hard to detect amidst the powerful hop notes.

The palate offers a hop explosion! Pine tar dominates the flavor profile. Grapefruit and other citrus notes highlight the pine while tropical hop notes soften the palate. The bitterness of the hops are evident, but surprisingly, not overwhelming. The freshness of the beer is unparalleled and aids in keeping the bitterness a little milder.

Stone Enjoy By 11.12.13 is a great beer for both hop heads and novice drinkers alike. A great effort from a great brewery! Try it with blackened chicken, Mongolian beef or aged gouda. 4 Out Of 5 Pints
